

Shakilla
Shakilla came to the U.S. from Afghanistan and arrived in the JBA kitchen eager to learn to make bread. In her free time, Shakilla enjoys creating Afghan culinary delights and sharpening her English skills through online education.


San
San is a 3rd year student at Agnes Scott College studying politics, social justice, & religion. She’ll spend summer 2022 teaching English in Malaysia, where her father spent 10 years working and trying to reunite his family in the U.S. San is originally from Myanmar.


Michele
Michele comes to JBA from New York, where she worked with nonprofits and owned her own catering business and chocolaterie. Michele’s 3 rescue pups are full of spunk and keep her hopping at home.


Leah
Leah was raised in the Midwest and found her way to Atlanta to study at Candler School of Theology. She stayed for the azaleas and the chance to grow into and learn from Atlanta’s diverse human family. Leah has worked in writing, education, and ministry.


Jenny
Jenny is a native Atlantan and holds degrees in Visual and Culinary Arts. You may have tasted Jenny’s creations at several bakeries around Atlanta, and she contributes to Just Bakery’s menu as well. Jenny loves to read, hang with her kids, and cook and bake.


Hayat
Hayat is originally from Syria and resettled in the Atlanta area with her husband and three teenage children by way of Turkey. She makes amazing baklava, takes English classes, and enjoys feeding her neighbors and friends.


Sisto
Sisto came to the Atlanta area from the Democratic Republic of Congo and recently earned his high school diploma. He loves working with his kitchen family, spending time with his family, and dreaming about a career in fashion design.

Nem
Nem came to the U.S. from Myanmar by way of India and is pursuing higher education while she works with Just Bakery of Atlanta. She speaks four languages, has experience making sushi, and is wild about pineapple cake.


Prince
Prince is originally from Burundi and loves to play soccer and basketball with his brothers in his free time. His favorites foods are rice and fries, and he’s learning to make JBA’s fresh pastries during our super early shifts. Thanks, for breakfast, Prince!


Johnny
Johnny’s a JBA food truck and farmers market rockstar who hails from Myanmar. When he’s not slinging coffee and cookies, Johnny studies Business Administration, play soccer, and sharpens his knife skills.


Ganga R
Ganga came to the U.S. from Nepal, and she’s acquired a taste for international travel. She’s currently busy with her Early Childhood studies, but she dreams of heading somewhere new for a study abroad program. Ganga loves spicy food, hanging out with her friends, going to the gym, dancing, and traveling.
